FunctionalTranslationTheory: Functionaltranslationtheorysuggeststhattranslationsshouldprioritizecommunicationandconveytheintendedmessagewiththeappropriatelevelofcomplexityfortheintendedaudience.Thefocusofthistheoryisonhowthetranslationcanfulfillitsintendedfunction.Inwebpageintroductions,thefunctionistoprovideinformationabouttheinstitution,itshistory,anditsvalues,aswellastoattractpotentialstudentsandstaff. ResearchonTranslatingWebPageIntroductions: Severalstudieshaveexploredthetranslationofwebpageintroductions.Forexample,SongandYin(2019)analyzedtheEnglishtranslationsofChineseuniversitywebpageintroductionsandfoundthatsometranslationswereinaccurateorincomprehensible.Theysuggestedthattranslatorsshouldprioritizeaccuracyandusesimpleandconciselanguagetoconveytheintendedinformation. AnotherstudybyAhmadandHidayatullah(2019)examinedthetranslationofwebpageintroductionsforPakistaniuniversities.Theyfoundthatsometranslationswerenotsuitablefortheintendedaudienceandsuggestedthattranslatorsshouldconsidertheculturalcontextandknowledgeofthetargetaudience.
