Thefindingsrevealedthatthereisasignificantincreaseinthevocabularyrangeofcollegestudentsfromtheirfirst-yeartotheirsenioryearwithanaverageincreaseof450wordsperyear.Thistrendcorroborateswiththeimprovementobservedintheiressays'qualityandcoherence.However,thetrackingstudyalsorevealedthatthereisaneedforfurtheremphasisonthestudents'lexicalsophistication,particularlyintheiruseofacademicandtechnicalwordstoenhancetheircriticalthinkingandacademicwritingskills. Overall,thisstudycorroboratestheneedforcontinuousvocabularyenrichmentprograms,includingcontextualizedlanguagelearningactivities,explicitinstructionofacademicandtechnicalwords,andscaffoldedapproachestosupportstudents'vocabularyacquisition.Thepaperconcludesbysuggestingacomprehensivevocabularyenrichmentprogramthatfocusesonbothbreadthanddepthofstudents'lexicalrepertoireasacriticalsteptowardspreparingcollegestudentsaseffectiveusersoftheEnglishlanguageinacademicandprofessionalsettings.
