中国英语专业学生英语写作中词汇丰富性损耗的研究 Introduction: Inrecentyears,duetotheincreasingglobalizationoftheworld,Englishhasbecomealanguagethatiswidelyusedincommunicationandhasbeenintegratedintodailylifeandwork.ForChinesestudentsmajoringinEnglish,Englishwritingisoneofthemostimportantandchallengingaspectstomaster.However,Chinesestudents'Englishwritinghasbeencriticizedforlackingvocabulary,andithasbecomeanissueofconcerninEnglishwritinginstruction.ThispaperaimstoexplorethereasonsbehindthevocabularylimitationsinEnglishwritingamongChineseEnglishmajorsandprovideeffectivesolutionstotheproblem. TheCurrentSituationofVocabularyLimitationsinEnglishWritingamongChineseEnglishMajors: ThevocabularylimitationsinEnglishwritingamongChineseEnglishmajorsisnotuncommon.Someoftheobservationsmadebyscholarsindicatethatstudentsrepeatthesamewordsandexpressions,displayinappropriatewordchoices,erroneouswordusage,andalackoflexicaldiversity(Gu,2013).HanandHuang(2007)foundthatcollegestudentsmajoringinEnglishhavegreatdifficultyinusingvocabularyinacademicwriting,whichleadstopoorexpressionofideasandlowersthequalityofthewrittenwork. CausesofVocabularyLimitationsinEnglishWritingamongChineseEnglishMajors: 1.EducationEnvironmentandTeachingMethods TheeducationenvironmentandteachingmethodsinChinahavebeenblamedforthelimitsofChinesestudents'writingskillssincetheeducationenvironmentisoftentest-oriented,withlimitedemphasisonlanguagelearningandcomprehensiveliteracy.Inaddition,theteachingmethodsadoptedintheclassroomdonotalwaysemphasizethedevelopmentofstudents'Englishwritingskills. 2.LearningAttitude,Motivation,andStrategy Itiswidelyacknowledgedthatstudents'attitudetowardslanguagelearningsignificantlyaffectstheirlearningprocessandresults.ManyChinesestudentsregardEnglishwritingaschallengingandanunsurmountabletask.Asaresult,theylackmotivationandwilltoimprovetheirwritingskills,whichaffectstheirvocabularyacquisition.Additionally,studentsdonothaveeffectivelearningstrategies,whichseverallyrestrictstheacquisitionandapplicationofvocabulary.
