當無限的上主透露祂的意念給有限的人類時，有時結果就是難解的奧秘。舉例來
說，詩篇有一段深奧的經節說：「在上主眼中，看聖民之死極為寶貴」（聖詠116
篇15節），這句話確實讓人費解。

我不禁搖頭，覺得這樣的事，怎麼可能？當我女兒在17歲死於車禍，或者我們
當中摯愛之人離世的時候，如果我只看到今生，就很難理解為何上主看這些事為
「寶貴」。

主看為寶貴的事，若我們不以今生的眼光來看，我們就開始明白了其中的奧秘。
這節經文給了我們永生的眼光。例如我從聖詠139篇16節中，上主知道我女兒
梅麗莎回到天堂的日子，祂正盼著她的到來，在祂眼中這是寶貴的事情。換個角
度思考：想像一位父親迎接自己的孩子回家，且看見他們能與耶穌團聚的大喜悅，
這是多麼歡欣的事（若望福音17章24節）。

當死亡臨到基督徒時，上主正張開雙臂迎接這個人進入天堂與祂同在。即便帶著
淚水，我們也能明白，這在上主的眼中是何等寶貴的。

讓我透過悲傷的淚水，
能見祢在天堂的喜樂；
所愛之人已回歸天家，
安慰盼望自天上落下。

日落的那邊，榮耀的黎明。

SometimeswhentheinfiniteGodconveysHisthoughtstofiniteman,
mysteryistheresult.Forexample,there’saprofoundverseinthe
bookofPsalmsthatseemstopresentmorequestionsthananswers:
“PreciousinthesightoftheLordisthedeathofHisfaithfulservants”
(116:15niv).

Ishakemyheadandwonderhowthatcanbe.Iseethingswith
earthboundeyes,andIhaveatoughtimeseeingwhatis“precious”
aboutthefactthatourdaughterwastakeninacaraccidentatthe
ageof17—orthatanyofushavelostcherishedlovedones.

Webegintounwrapthemystery,though,whenweconsiderthat
whatisprecioustotheLordisnotconfinedtoearthlyblessings.This
verseexaminesaheaven-basedperspective.Forinstance,Iknow
fromPsalm139:16thatMelissa’sarrivalinGod’sheavenwas
expected.Godwaslookingforherarrival,anditwaspreciousinHis
eyes.Andthinkaboutthis:ImaginetheFather’sjoywhenHe
welcomesHischildrenhomeandseestheirabsoluteecstasyinbeing
facetofacewithHisSon(seeJohn17:24).

WhendeathcomesforthefollowerofChrist,GodopensHisarmsto
welcomethatpersonintoHispresence.Eventhroughourtears,we
canseehowpreciousthatisinGod’seyes.

Lord,whensorrowgripsourheartsaswethinkabout
thedeathofoneclosetous,remindusofthejoyYouare
experiencingasourlovedoneenjoysthepleasuresof
heaven.Pleaseallowthattogiveushopeandcomfort.
Asunsetinonelandisasunriseinanother.
