瑪竇福音23章23-39節
有個夜晚，一位牧師在往教會的路上，突然遭到搶匪持槍搶劫，威脅他說：「要
錢？要命？」當牧師從口袋拿出錢包時，搶匪看見他的牧師領圈，就說：「我看
你是個牧師，那算了，你可以走了。」這個牧師對劫匪如此虔敬的舉動感到意外，
就給了搶匪一塊巧克力，結果搶匪說：「不了，謝謝。我不在大齋節期間（基督
教的節期）吃巧克力。」

這個人以為在大齋節期間禁食不吃巧克力，是一種犧牲的表現，但他搶劫的舉動
才真正顯露了他的本性。根據箴言的作者，行為舉止表明了一個人的本性！如果
有人說自己是一個敬畏上主的人，唯有他平時的行為才能證明他的話（20章11
節）。這也是耶穌時代那些宗教領袖的寫照。耶穌譴責那些法利賽人的偽善，他
們在人前自稱敬虔，但實際上卻言行不一（瑪竇福音23章13-36節）。外表和言
詞都可以虛假，但行為是最能判別本性的，對我們每個人來說都是如此。

身為耶穌的門徒，我們不是透過所言，乃是藉著所行來展現對祂的愛。因上主對
我們的愛，願我們的委身，今天可以用行動來表明。

屬靈話語莫空談，
光說不練有何益，
信條再好又何用？
行不出來也徒然！

行為舉止顯露本性。

duringLent.”

ThemanhadgivenupcandyasasupposedsacrificeforLent,buthis
lifestyleofstealingshowedhisrealcharacter!Accordingtothewriter
ofProverbs,conductisthebestindicatorofcharacter.Ifsomeone
saysheisagodlyperson,hiswordscanonlybeprovenbyconsistent
actions(20:11).ThiswastrueofthereligiousleadersinJesus’dayas
well.HecondemnedthePhariseesandexposedtheirshamfor
professinggodlinessbutdenyingthatprofessionwithsinintheirlives
(Matt.23:13-36).Appearancesandwordsaredeceiving;behavioris
thebestjudgeofcharacter.Thisappliestoallofus.

AsfollowersofJesus,wedemonstrateourloveforHimbywhatwe
do,notjustbywhatwesay.MayourdevotiontoGod,becauseofHis
loveforus,berevealedinouractionstoday.
