CausesofMotherTongueNegativeTransfer TherearetwomaincausesofmothertonguenegativetransferinhighschoolEnglishwriting.Firstly,studentsarenotfamiliarwiththerulesandstructuresofEnglishgrammar.Theyoftenrelyontheirmothertonguegrammarandsyntaxtoconstructsentences,whichleadstogrammaticalerrors.Forexample,studentsmayusethewrongprepositionsorverbtenses,ortheymayusesingularnounsinsteadofpluralones. EffectiveStrategiestoCorrectMotherTongueNegativeTransfer ToovercomemothertonguenegativetransferinhighschoolEnglishwriting,itisnecessarytoapplysomeeffectivestrategies.Herearesomeofthemosteffectivestrategies: 1.IncreaseExposuretoEnglish ItiscrucialforstudentstoexposethemselvestoEnglishasmuchaspossible.ThiscanbedonebyreadingEnglishbooks,newspapers,andmagazines,watchingEnglishTVshowsandmovies,andlisteningtoEnglishmusic.ThemorestudentsimmersethemselvesinEnglish,themorefamiliartheywillbecomewiththelanguage,whichwillhelpthemtoavoidmothertonguenegativetransfer. 2.StudyEnglishGrammarandSyntax ToavoidtransferringtherulesandstructuresofthemothertongueintoEnglishwriting,studentsneedtohaveaclearunderstandingofEnglishgrammarandsyntax.TheyshouldstudyEnglishgrammarrules,includingverbtenses,prepositions,sentencestructure,andpunctuation.Thiswillhelpthemtoconstructsentencesmoreaccurately. 3.
