英语专业学生产出性词汇特征研究 Introduction Asanessentialaspectoflanguagelearning,vocabularyacquisitionisofgreatimportanceinthestudyofEnglishasaforeignlanguage.ForEnglishmajorstudents,themasteryofproductivevocabularyhelpsthemtoeffectivelycommunicatetheirthoughtsandideas.Hence,moreresearchershavefocusedoninvestigatingthecharacteristicsofproductivevocabularyforEnglishmajorstudents.Inthispaper,wewilldelveintothefeaturesofproductivevocabularyforEnglishmajorstudents. ResearchBackground AccordingtotheNationalGuidelinesforEnglishMajors(2014),cultivatingstudents'abilitytocommunicateeffectivelyinEnglishisoneofthefundamentaltargetsofEnglishteachinginhighereducationinstitutions.Vocabularyisacriticalcomponentincommunicativecompetence,whichencompassesproductiveandreceptivevocabulary.Productivevocabularyreferstothewordsthatstudentscanexpressandmanipulateinspeakingandwriting,whilereceptivevocabularyreferstothewordsthatstudentscancomprehendbutcannotuseactively. StudieshaveshownthatEnglishmajorstudentstendtohaveahighreceptivevocabulary,whiletheirproductivevocabularyisnotasextensiveastheywouldlike.Forinstance,LiuandZhang(2019)reportedthatwhiletheaveragereceptivevocabularysizeofChineseEnglishmajorstudentsisover8,000words,theirproductivevocabularysizeisaround4,000words.Therefore,itisessentialtoexplorethefeaturesofproductivevocabularyforEnglishmajorstudents. Featuresofproductivevocabulary 1.Domain-specificVocabulary Aslanguageiscloselytiedtoculture,itisessentialtorecognizethateachdisciplinehasitsspecificvocabularythatstudentsarerequiredtomaster.Vocabularyacquisitionrequiresrepeatedexposuretowordsinvariouscontexts,whichenablesstudentstounderstandandacquiredomain-specificvocabulary.However,Englishmajorstudentsstillencounterchallengesinmasteringdiscipline-specificvocabulary,particularlyinnewlyemergingdisciplineslikeIT,engineering,andeconomics. 2.SyntacticalandLexicalCollocations Englishwordscanfrequentlyoccurtogetherinspecificpatternsandarrangements,resultingincollocations.Collocationsaresyntacticallyand
