基于SWECCL语料库的英语专业学生产出性词汇能力研究 Abstract TheabilitytoproduceaccurateandappropriatevocabularyisanessentialaspectoflanguagelearningandcommunicationforEnglishasaForeignLanguage(EFL)students.Inthispaper,weinvestigatetheproductionofspecializedvocabularybyEnglishmajorsusingtheSWECCLcorpus,focusingonthefrequencyandaccuracyofthetermsgenerated.ThestudyhighlightstheimportanceofvocabularyacquisitioninEFLteachingandthepotentialbenefitsofcorpus-basedapproachesforlanguagelearning. Introduction Asoneofthemostimportantaspectsoflanguagelearning,vocabularyacquisitionhaslongbeenafocusoflanguageteachersandresearchers.Vocabularyisthefoundationoflanguagelearning,actingasagatekeepertolanguageproficiencyaswellasatoolforcommunication(Meara,1996). Amongthevarioustypesoflanguagelearners,Englishmajorsareauniquegroup.TheyarerequiredtopossessahigherlevelofEnglishproficiencyandtoproducespecializedvocabularyaccuratelyandproficientlyinacademic,professional,andsocialcontexts.Therefore,theabilitytoproduceaccurateandappropriatevocabularyiscrucialtoEnglishmajors. Corpus-basedapproacheshavebecomeincreasinglypopularinlanguageteachingandlearninginrecentyears.Theuseofcorporacanprovidestudentswithauthenticlanguagematerials,reflecttheactuallanguageusebynativespeakers,andhelpdeveloplearners’abilitytoinfermeaningfromcontext(Hu,2005).ThisstudyaimstousetheSWECCLcorpustoinvestigatetheproductionofspecializedvocabularybyEnglishmajors. Methodology ThestudyfocusesontheproductionofspecializedvocabularybyEnglishmajors.TheSWECCLcorpuswaschosenasthedatabaseforthestudysinceitisthelargestandmostcomprehensiveEnglishcorpusofChineselearnersofEnglish. ThestudyemployedquantitativedataanalysisthroughtheuseofsoftwaresuchasWordSmithToolsandExcel.ThefrequencyofthetermsproducedbyEnglishmajorswascomputed,andtheaccuracyoftheusageofthetermswasassessedbasedontheSWECCLcorpus. Results TheSWECCLcorpuscontains6.5millionwordsfromChineselearnersofEnglish,ofwhich42,356wordsareEnglishmajors’productions.ThestudyfindsthatEnglishmajorstendtoproducespe
