影响艺术类专业学生英语学习动机因素的调查研究 Introduction Artisticstudiesarebecomingincreasinglypopularnowadaysastheimportanceofartsanddesignhasbeenrecognizedindifferentfields.However,oneofthechallengesthatartstudentsfaceisboostingEnglishlanguageskills.Inlightofthis,thispaperaimstoinvestigatethefactorsthataffecttheEnglishlanguagelearningmotivationofartstudents. Background Theartisnotonlyabeautifulformofexpression,butitssignificanceiswidespreadacrossnumerousaspectsofsociety.Ithasbecomeincreasinglyimportantindifferentsectorssuchasarchitecture,interiordesign,fashion,filmproduction,andmanymore.Studyingartstudentsareexpectedtopossessabroadunderstandingofvariousfieldsandtechnicalexpertise.Besides,Englishisanessentialtoolforexpressingandcommunicatingtheseconcepts. Motivationisoneoftheessentialfactorsinlearning,anditplaysasignificantroleinsuccessfullanguageacquisition.UnderstandingthemotivationalfactorsspecifictoartstudentsintheirEnglishlanguagelearningprocessisessential.Itwouldenableeducatorstodevelopspecificstrategies,coursesorprogramsaimedatenhancingtheEnglishlanguageskillsofartstudents. Methodology Thisresearchisaquantitativestudy,andthedatacollectionisthroughaquestionnaire.Thestudysampleconsistsof132artstudentsfromdifferentuniversitiesinChina.Thequestionnaireconsistsofthreeparts,respectivelytoassessthedemographicsoftheparticipants,theirmotivationforlearningEnglish,andthereasonsforlearningEnglish. Results Demographics:64.4%ofparticipantswerefemale,andmostrespondentsfellwithinthetwenty-twototwenty-fouragebracket.60%saidtheyhavetakenEnglishcoursesbefore.Motivation:Interestingly,theprimarymotivationforstudentsstudyingartisnottoimprovetheirEnglishlanguageskills;rather,respondentsperceivedthestudyofEnglishtobenecessaryforsecuringemploymentopportunitiesintheartfield.Thesecondprimarymotivationisacademicperformance.ParticipatingininternationalcompetitionswascitedasthethirdprimarymotivationforEnglishlanguagelearning.Reasons:ThetopreasonsforlearningEnglishwereemployability,culturalappreciationandunder
