话语标记语在中国英语学习者口语中的使用研究 ABSTRACT TheuseofdiscoursemarkersisessentialinspokenEnglish,astheyhelptoorganizetheflowofcommunicationbetweenspeakersandmaketheconversationclearer.ThispaperexplorestheuseofdiscoursemarkersinthespokenEnglishofChineselearnerswiththeaimofhighlightingthedifferenttypesofdiscoursemarkersusedandtheeffectofthesemarkersoncommunication.Thepapermakesuseofliteraturereview,interview,andcorpusanalysistoexaminetheuseofdiscoursemarkersinspokenEnglishamongChineselearners.TheresultsofthestudyrevealthatChineselearners’useofdiscoursemarkersisaffectedbythedifferencesbetweenChineseandEnglishcultures.Thesedifferencescanleadtoineffectivecommunicationandaffecttheabilityofthelearnerstoconveytheirintendedmessage.Thus,EnglishteachersandlearnersneedtopayattentiontotheuseofdiscoursemarkerstoimprovetheirspokenEnglish. 1.INTRODUCTION TheuseofdiscoursemarkersisimportantinspokenEnglishasithelpstoorganizetheflowofcommunicationbetweenspeakersandmakestheconversationclearer.Discoursemarkersarewordsorphrasesusedtosignaltheflowofcommunicationandmarkthebeginningorendofanideaorargument.Theyhelptoshowtherelationshipsbetweenideasandtoclarifythemeaningofwhatisbeingsaid.Somecommondiscoursemarkersinclude“so”,“well”,“actually”,“anyway”,“youknow”,“Imean”,“inotherwords”,and“like”.Discoursemarkersplayacrucialroleinspokencommunicationsincetheyhelpspeakerstomaintaininteractions,aswellascreateasmoothinformativeconversation.
