LiteratureReview Adaptationtheory,whichiswidelyappliedintranslationstudies,emphasizesthatatranslatednameshouldcatertothetargetcultureratherthanthesourceculture.Inotherwords,whenabrandnameistranslated,itsoriginalmeaning,culturalconnotationsandsoundsymbolismshouldbetakenintoaccount,andasuitablenameshouldbeadoptedinthetargetlanguagetoachieveasimilareffect. Existingstudieshavefocusedontheapplicationofadaptationtheoryintranslatingdifferenttypesofbrandnames,suchasglobalbrands,technicalterms,andtourismbrands.However,studiesonthetranslationofdomesticclothingbrandnames,especiallyfromaChinese-Englishperspective,arerelativelyfew. Methodology Thisstudywilladoptbothqualitativeandquantitativeresearchmethods.Firstly,acorpusofdomesticclothingbrandnameswillbeselected,whichshouldincludeavarietyofnamesintermsoflength,structure,andculturalconnotations.Secondly,translationstrategiesusedinrenderingthesenamesintoEnglishwillbeanalyzed,includingtransliteration,translation,andacombinationofboth.Thirdly,theadaptationtheorywillbeappliedtoanalyzehowthesetranslationstrategiesreflectthetargetculture,andhowthisreflectstheadaptationtheoryinbrandnametranslation.Fourthly,asurveyamongEnglish-speakingconsumerswillb
