ResearchQuestions Thestudyaimstoanswerthefollowingresearchquestions: 1.Cantheteachingstrategyeffectivelyimprovehighschoolstudents'criticalreadingability? 2.Whatarethefactorsthatinfluencetheeffectivenessoftheteachingstrategy? Methodology Participants ThestudywillbeconductedintwohighschoolsinChina.Atotalof80studentswillberecruitedasparticipants.Theinclusioncriteriaforselectingparticipantsareasfollows:(1)intheirthirdyearofhighschool,(2)mediumorabovelevelofEnglishproficiency,and(3)voluntaryparticipationinthestudy. Design Thestudyadoptsaquasi-experimentaldesign.Theparticipantswillberandomlyassignedtotheexperimentalgroupandthecontrolgroup.Theparticipantsintheexperimentalgroupwillreceiveexplicitinstructiononcriticalreadingusingateachingstrategydevelopedbasedontheliteraturereview.Theparticipantsinthecontrolgroupwillnotreceiveexplicitinstructionbutwillbeencour
