功能翻译理念下的泸州市城市公示语英译研究的中期报告 Mid-termreportontheEnglishtranslationoftheChengshiGongshilanguageofLuzhouCitybasedonthefunctionaltranslationtheory Introduction: TheChengshiGongshilanguage(城市公示语)isanimportantpartofthepubliclanguagesystemofcitiesinChina.Itreferstothepublicnotices,signs,andslogansthatappearinpublicspacestoprovideinformation,instructions,andwarningstothepublic.ThepurposeofthisresearchprojectistoexploretheEnglishtranslationoftheChengshiGongshilanguageofLuzhouCitybasedonthefunctionaltranslationtheory.TheoverallgoalistoimprovetheeffectivenessandclarityoftheEnglish-languagepubliccommunicationofLuzhouCity.Inthismid-termreport,wewilldiscusstheresearchmethodology,theanalysisoftheoriginaltexts,andtheinitialtranslationprinciplesandstrategies. Methodology: Theresearchmethodologyisbasedonthefunctionaltranslationtheory,whichemphasizesthepragmaticfunctionsoflanguageuseincommunicativesituations.Thetheoryholdsthatthetranslationshouldfocusonthetargetaudience,thepurposeofcommunication,andtheculturalcontextofthesourceandtargetlanguages.Inthisresearchproject,wewillconductacorpus-basedanalysisoftheChengshiGongshilanguagecorpusofLuzhouCity,includingthetextsofpublicnotices,signs,andslogans.Wewillalsousequestionnairesandinterviewstocollectdataabouttheperceptionandcomprehensionofthetargetaudience,especiallytheEnglish-speakinginternationalcommunity.
