艺体本科生英语学习动机调查研究——以广西师范大学为例的中期报告 ResearchontheMotivationofEnglishLearningofArtandPhysicalEducationUndergraduates—ACaseStudyofGuangxiNormalUniversityMid-termReport 1.Introduction Inrecentyears,theimportanceofEnglisheducationhasbeenwidelyrecognizedinChina'shighereducation,andEnglishhasbecomearequiredsubjectinundergraduatecurricula.Amongthem,EnglishlearninghasbecomeasignificantchallengeforartandphysicaleducationundergraduatesbecausethemajorityofthemdonothaveastrongEnglishfoundation.TheirmotivationandattitudetowardsEnglishlearningplayacrucialroleintheiracademicsuccess.ThisstudyaimstoinvestigatethemotivationofartandphysicaleducationundergraduatesinGuangxiNormalUniversitytowardsEnglishlearning. 2.TheoreticalFramework TheSelf-determinationTheoryisadoptedasatheoreticalframeworkforthisstudy.Thistheorystatesthathumanshaveinnatetendenciestowardspersonalgrowth,development,andintegrationandthatone'sbehaviorisdeterminedbyanindividual'smotivations.Therearethreeprimaryneedsdrivingintrinsicmotivation:autonomy,competence,andrelatedness. 3.ResearchMethod Thestudyadoptedasurveyquestionnairemethodtocollectdata.Thequestionnaireconsistedoffivesections:demographicinformation,measuresofEnglishproficiency,motivationforEnglishlearning,learningstrategies,andpossibleobstaclestoEnglishlearning.Thequestionnairewasdistributedto300artandphysicaleducationundergraduatesrandomly. 4.DataAnalysis Atotalof269validquestionnaireswerecollectedwitharesponserateof89.6%.DataanalysiswasconductedusingSPSS21.0.Descriptivestatistics,independentsamplet-tests,andone-wayANOVAwereusedtoanalyzethedata. 5.Findings 5.1DemographicInformation:Themajorityoftheparticipantswerefemaleundergraduates(66.2%),andtheagerangewasbetween18and22yearsold. 5.2MeasuresofEnglishProficiency:Themeanscoreoftheparticipants'self-reportedEnglishproficiencywas2.34outof5,indicatingthatmostoftheparticipantshadalowlevelofEnglishproficiency. 5.3MotivationforEnglishLearning:ThefindingsindicatethatintrinsicmotivationforEnglishlearningwashigherthanextrin
