LiteratureReview Earlystudieshaveestablishedthatself-directedlearningskillsarecrucialtoacademicsuccess(Cane&Gristwood,2016;Tseng,2016).Furthermore,inlanguagelearning,thereisaneedforstudentstohaveself-directedlearningskillstosupplementclassroominstruction(Benson,2011).Inthefieldofsportsscience,itwasfoundthatstudentswhoengagedinself-directedlearningalsohadbetteracademicperformance(Liu,2017). ResearchMethodology Thisresearchstudyisdesignedasamixed-methodsapproach,withasampleofsportssciencestudentsfromtwouniversitiesinChina.Aquestionnairewillbeadministeredtogatherquantitativedatatoevaluatethestudents'self-directedlearningskills.Thequestionnairewillbebasedonwhatisoutlinedintheliteraturereview.Additionally,afollow-upinterviewwillbeconductedtoobtainqualitativedataonthestudents'insightsintotheirself-directedlearningexperience. ExpectedOutcomes Throughthisstudy,itisexpectedthatself-studyabilitiesintheEnglishlanguagewillbeenhanced.Furthermore,itwillenableresearcherstogainadeeperunderstandingofthechallengesencounteredbystudentsintheirself-directedlearningandidentifywaystosupportthem. Conclusion Inconclusion,itisnecessarytoestablishtheself-directedlearningskillsofsportsciencestudentsstudyingtheEnglishlanguage,indicatingthatthisstudywouldbesignificant.Themid-termreportprovidesanoutlineofthestudy'saims,methods,andexpectedoutcomes.Thenextstageofthestudywillinvolvedatacollectionandanalysis.
