Methodology: Theresearchemploysaqualitativeapproach,involvingadetailedanalysisofselectedChinesemenusandtheirEnglishtranslations.Themenuswereselectedbasedontheirculturalsignificanceanddiverseculinarystyles,andthetranslationswerecollectedfromvarioussources,includingrestaurants,cookbooks,andonlineresources.Theanalysisfocusesonthelinguistic,cultural,andaestheticdimensionsoftranslation,examininghowtheseelementsinteractandcontributetotheoverallqualityoftheEnglishmenu. Progress: Theresearchhasprogressedwellsofarandhasyieldedseveralsignificantfindings.Firstly,theanalysisofChinesemenushasrevealedtheimportanceofwordchoice,style,andstructureinconveyingtheaestheticfeaturesofChinesecuisine,suchastheuseofcolor,texture,andflavor.Secondly,thestudyofEnglishtranslationshasidentifiedseveralcommonchallengesfacedbytranslators,suchasthedifficultyoffindingequivalentsforculturallyspecifictermsandtheneedtobalanceaccuracywithreadability.Finally,theresearchhasbeguntodevelopasetofguidingprinciplesforEnglishtranslation,emphasizingtheneedforadeepunderstandingofboththesourceandtargetculturesandtheimportanceofcreativityandadaptabilityinachievingaestheticequivalence. Conclusion: Thismid-termreportindicatesthatthestudyisprogressingsmoothlyandhasprovidedvaluableinsightsintotheartoftranslatingChinesemenusfromanaestheticperspective.FurtherworkwillbecarriedouttorefinetheguidingprinciplesandstrategiesforEnglishtranslationandtoevaluatetheireffectivenessthroughcasestudiesandexpertfeedback.Ultimately,theresearchaimstocontributetothedevelopmentofanewparadigmfortranslatingChinesemenusthatreflectstherichartistictradit
