长句翻译技巧.ppt

英语中短语以及并列和从属分句的大量使用出现了很多较长的句子，这些长句往往造成理解和翻译上的困难。如：Thosecountrieshaveattimesbeenplaguedandhaveatothertimesbeenstimulatedbyburstsofinflation长句不但可以造成理解上的失误，其复杂的结构还可能束缚译者的思维造成表达上的困难。例如：Hehadclearedupthoseconfusionswhicharosefromdifferentmedicinesthathadthesamenameandfromvariousnamesthathadbeengiventothesamesubstance.为了翻译好一个长句，我们可以先对该长句进行语法和语篇分析。具体说来就是根据上下文的语义首先找出句子的主干（主语、谓语、宾语），然后确定枝叶成分（状语、定语等）。在捋清句子的语法层次以后，按照译文的语言习惯调整搭配，准确地翻译出长句的信息。在信息位置调整方面一般有四种方法：1原序译法某些英语长句中动作的发生顺序在时间安排上或者逻辑关系上与汉语表达习惯比较一致，这时就可以按照原文的顺序翻译。例如：Itisveryeasytobringsomebooksfromthebookstoresandlibraries,buttolearntheknowledgeinthebooksandputtheknowledgeintopracticeisbynomeansaneasyjob.2换序译法即把英语句子中某些成分的次序变动一下，或提前或挪后。变动的依据仍然是要符合汉语的表达习惯。例如：Hisfamouswill,inwhichheleftmoneytoprovideprizesforoutstandingworkinPhysics,Chemistry,Physiology,Medicine,LiteratureandPeace,isamemorialtohisinterestsandideals.3拆句译法有的时候，简单地把句子各成分的位置进行挪动调换还是不够的。由于英语句子中修饰成分的大量运用，使得一个句子所包含的信息大大超过汉语单句的承受力，所以汉语句子往往要把它进行化解，各个击破，这就是所谓的拆句译法。例如：Threerainshadpassed,anditwasthatleanseasonwhenthevillage'sstoreofgrainandotherdriedfoodsfromthelastharvestwasalmostgone.有些英语长句仅仅用上述三种方法进行翻译都不妥当，这时要仔细研究该长句，按照时间或逻辑顺序进行推理，综合运用三种技巧处理。例如：ThenwhenPugfirstreturnedtoGrunewaldhouse,theartmuseumdirectorwholivednextdoor,avastlylearnedlittledarkmannamedDr.Baltzer,rushedover,draggingalameleg,toofferhisneighboradrinkandtochatabouttheimminentBritishcollapse.1.Itwastheschool'sresponsibilitytomakegoodcitizensoutofthestudents,andtheparents'responsibilitytoteachthechildrentoreadandwrite.2.Myracametothefuneral,andinherefficientwayarrangedforMrsMorrisontocomeinandlightthefireandgivetheoldladyherbreakfast.3.Whenthequiethourends,theTVnetworksmightevenbeforcedtocomeupwithbettershowsinordertogetusbackfromournewlydiscoveredactivities.4.Thetragicsinkingofthisgreatlinerwillalwaysberememberedforshewentdownonherfirstvoyagewithlossoflife.6.Noticehowthecold,colorlessmen,withoutideasandwithnootherpassionbutacravingforsuccess,getoninthissociety,capturingoneplumafteranotherandtakingthejuicean
