Introduction: Theabilitytoreadfluentlyandcomprehendtextsisafundamentalskillforlanguagelearners.Inrecentyears,therehasbeengrowingrecognitionoftheimportanceofphonicsinstructioninfosteringearlyreadingdevelopment.Phonicsfocusesontherelationshipbetweenlettersandsounds,helpingstudentsdecodeunfamiliarwordsindependently.Picturebookreading,ontheotherhand,introducesstudentstorichvocabulary,stimulatesimagination,andenhancescomprehensionskills.ThispaperaimstoinvestigatetheeffectivenessofintegratingthesetwoapproachestoenhanceEnglishlanguagelearninginprimaryschoolsettings. LiteratureReview: Previousstudieshaveidentifiedthebenefitsofbothphonicsinstructionandpicturebookreadinginsupportinglanguagedevelopment.Researchshowsthatexplicitphonicsinstructionhasapositiveimpactonchildren'swordrecognitionandreadingcomprehensionabilities(NationalReadingPanel,2000).Picturebooks,ontheotherhand,engagechildrenbyfacilitatingcomprehensionthroughvisualaidsandcontext(Busetal.,2008).Theintegrationofthesetwostrategiesisexpectedtoprovideaholisticapproachtoreadinginstruction. Methodology: Thisresearchstudyadoptsamixed-methodsapproachtocollectbothquantitativeandqualitativedata.Asampleofprimaryschoolstudentsinaselectedschoolisdividedintotwogroups,anexperimentalgroupandacontrolgroup.TheExperimentalGroupreceivesintegratedinstructioninphonicsandpicturebookreading,whiletheControlGroupfollowsthetraditionalreadingcurriculum.Pre-andpost-testsareconductedtomeasuretheimpactonstuden
