Introduction: Englishlearningplaysacriticalroleintheeducationofjuniorhighschoolstudentsintoday'sglobalizedworld.AsEnglishbecomesincreasinglyimportant,itiscrucialtoexplorethestateofindependentEnglishlearningamongjuniorhighschoolstudents.ThispaperinvestigatesthecurrentsituationofindependentEnglishlearning,identifiesthechallengesfacedbystudents,andprovidesstrategiestoeffectivelyfacilitatetheirself-directedlearningabilities. Methodology: Tocollectdataforthisstudy,amixed-methodsapproachwasemployed.Firstly,asurveywasadministeredtoarepresentativesampleofjuniorhighschoolstudentstoassesstheircurrentEnglishlearningpractices,motivations,andperceivedchallenges.Secondly,semi-structuredinterviewswereconductedwithEnglishteacherstogathertheirinsightsonthestudents'independentlearningbehaviors.Lastly,anextensiveliteraturereviewwasconductedtoidentifyeffectivestrategiesandbestpracticesforindependentEnglishlearning.
