Introduction: Packagingplaysacrucialroleinthepreservation,transportation,andpresentationoffoodproducts.However,conventionalpackagingmaterialssuchasplasticfilmshaveraisedseriousconcernsduetotheirnon-biodegradabilityandnegativeimpactontheenvironment.Ediblefilms,composedoffood-gradematerials,offeragreenalternativethatcanaddresstheseconcerns.Gelatinandsodiumcaseinatearewidelyutilizedinthefoodindustryandexhibitpromisingpropertiesforthedevelopmentofediblefilms.Therefore,thisstudyaimedtoexplorethepackagingperformanceofediblefilmsderivedfromgelatinandsodiumcaseinate. MaterialsandMethods: 1.Preparationofediblefilms:Gelatinandsodiumcaseinateweredissolvedseparatelyindistilledwater,followedbyblendingthesolutionstofabricatehomogeneousmixtures.Theresultingblendwasthenpouredonaflatsurfaceanddrieduntilitformedasolidfilm. 2.Filmcharacterization:Thethickness,tensilestrength,elongation,watervaportransmissionrate(WVTR),andoxygentransmissionrate(OTR)oftheediblefilmsweremeasuredtoevaluatetheirpackagingperformance.Scanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM)wasemployedtoexaminethesurfacetopographyofthefilms. ResultsandDiscussion: Theediblefilmsweresuccessfullyfabricatedusingacombinationofgelatinandsodiumcaseinate.Theadditionofsodiumcaseinateimprovedthemechanicalstrengthofthefilmscomparedtoindividualgelatinfilms.SEMimagesrevealedahomogeneousstructurewithasmoothsurface,indicatingthepotentialforeffectivepackaging. Thethicknessofthefilmswasmeasured,anditwas
