英语专业学生议论文写作中因果连接词的使用情况研究 Introduction Causalconnectionisanessentialelementofeffectivewriting,especiallyinacademicandscientificwriting.Theuseofcausalconnectivesisimportantbecauseithelpsinestablishingarelationshipbetweenevents,ideas,andsituationsthatwouldotherwiseappearunrelated.InEnglishwriting,thereareavarietyofcausalconnectivesthatcanbeusedtoconnectsentences,clauses,andideastoshowcausality.ThispaperaimstoinvestigatetheusageofcausalconnectivesinEnglishwritingamongstudentsmajoringinEnglishandtodeterminetheimportanceoftheiruseinwriting. ReasonsforInvestigating Theuseofcausalconnectivesinwritingisimportantbecauseithelpsinmakingthetextmorecoherentandeasytoread.Often,writersfailtousecausalconnectiveseffectively,andthisleadstoconfusioninunderstanding.Therefore,astudyontheusageofcausalconnectivesamongEnglishmajorsisnecessarytodeterminetheeffectivenessandimportanceoftheuseoftheseconnectivesinEnglishwriting. Methodology ThisstudywasconductedthroughasurveyofEnglishmajorsfromdifferentuniversities.Thesamplepopulationconsistedofbothundergraduateandgraduatestudentsfromdifferentpartsoftheworld.Participantswereaskedtoansweraseriesofquestionstodeterminetheirusageandunderstandingofcausalconnectivesinwriting. Results TheresultsshowthatmostEnglishmajorshaveagoodunderstandingofcausalconnectivesandtheirimportanceinwriting.However,thestudyalsorevealedthatmanystudentsstillstrugglewithidentifyingthecorrectcausalconnectivetouseinagivencontextorsentence.Itwasalsofoundthatmanystudentsusecausalconnectivessimplyasamatterofformality,ratherthantomakemeaningfulconnectionsbetweenideas. Discussion ThestudyrevealsthatthereisaneedforEnglishprofessorstofocusonteachingstudentshowtousecausalconnectiveseffectively.Thiscanbedonethroughemphasizingtheimportanceofcausalconnectives,providingexamplesofeffectiveuse,andofferingexercisestoreinforcelearning.Moreover,thestudyunderscorestheneedforstudentstounderstandthedifferencesbetweencausalconnectivesandtousethemappropriatelytoconveyaclearrelationshipbetweenevents.
