Introduction: L1negativetransferisaphenomenonthatoccurswhenalearner'sfirstlanguageinfluencestheirsecondlanguageacquisition.ItisacommonchallengefacedbyEnglishlanguagelearners,particularlyinnon-EnglishspeakingcountrieslikeChina.WhenstudyingEnglishasaforeignlanguage,Chinesestudentsoftenencounterdifficultiesinwritingduetotheinfluenceoftheirmothertongue. LiteratureReview: PreviousresearchhasshownthatL1negativetransferprimarilyaffectslinguisticaspectssuchasgrammar,vocabulary,syntax,andidiomaticexpressionsinEnglishwriting.CommonerrorsresultingfromL1transferincludewordordermistakes,lackofsubject-verbagreement,improperuseofprepositions,anddirecttranslationfromthenativelanguage.TheseerrorshindereffectivewrittencommunicationandcanimpedethedevelopmentofEnglishlanguageskills. Methodology: Thisresearchemploysamixed-methodapproachtocollectdataandanalyzetheimpactofL1negativetransferontheEnglishwritingskillsofjuniorhighschoolstudents.Thestudy'sparticipantsconsistofasamplegroupofjuniorhighschoolstudentsfromvariousschoolsinChina.Datacollectionmethodsincludeerroranalysisofwrittencompositions,interviewswithteachers,andsurveystogatherstudents'perspectivesandexperiences.
