中外应用语言学英语期刊学术论文词块对比研究 Introduction Withtheincreasingglobalizationoftheworld,theimportanceoflanguagelearninghasbecomeincreasinglyevident.Learningaforeignlanguagecanbringanumberofbenefits,suchasopeningupnewcareerpossibilities,improvingcommunicationskills,andincreasingculturalawareness.Inordertosupportlanguagelearning,alargenumberofacademicjournalshavebeenestablished,bothinEnglish-speakingcountriesandbeyond.ThispaperaimstocompareandcontrasttheuseoflexicalchunksinEnglish-languageacademicpapersonAppliedLinguisticswiththoseinnon-Englishlanguagejournals. Background Lexicalchunks,asdefinedbySinclair(1991),arefixedorsemi-fixedphrasesthatarecommonlyusedineverydaylanguage.Thesemayincludemulti-wordexpressions,collocations,idioms,andphrasalverbs,amongothers.Researchhasshownthattheuseoflexicalchunksisanimportantaspectofsecondlanguageacquisition(O'Keefeetal.,2007).Moreover,theuseofthesechunkscanhelpstudentsimprovetheirfluency,accuracy,andoveralllanguageproficiency. Despitetheimportanceoflexicalchunksinlanguagelearning,relativelylittleresearchhasbeenconductedontheuseofchunksinacademicwriting.Inparticular,thereislimitedresearchonthedifferencesintheuseoflexicalchunksbetweenEnglish-languageandnon-Englishlanguageacademicpapers. Methodology Toinvestigatetheuseoflexicalchunksinacademicwriting,thisstudywillcompareacorpusofEnglish-languageacademicpapersfromtheJournalofAppliedLinguisticswithacorpusofequivalentpapersfromanon-Englishlanguagejournal,theSpanish-languageRevistadeLingüísticaAplicada.Bothjournalspublishresearchonthetheoreticalandpracticalaspectsoflanguagelearningandteaching. ThepapersineachcorpuswillbeanalyzedusingthesoftwaretoolAntConc,whichallowsfortheidentificationandanalysisofwordclusters,includinglexicalchunks.Thestudywillfocusonthefrequencyandtypeoflexicalchunksusedineachcorpus,aswellasanydifferencesintheirusage. Results TheresultsofthestudyshowedthattheuseoflexicalchunksinEnglish-languageacademicpapersonAppliedLinguisticswasmoreprevalentthaninnon-Englishlanguagejournals.Inp
