基于需求分析的专门用途英语课程设置研究——以广西纺织工业学校为例的中期报告 Introduction Thismid-termreportfocusesontheresearchofdesigninganEnglishcourseforspecificpurposesbasedonneedsanalysis.ThecaseistakenfromGuangxiTextileIndustrialSchool(GTIS)inChina.GTISisahighervocationalschoolthattrainstextileandgarmenttechnicians.Duetotheincreasinglyglobalizedtextileindustry,EnglishcompetencebecomesmorecrucialforthefuturecareerofGTISstudents.Therefore,thecoursewearegoingtodevelopisdesignedforspecificneedsandaimstoenhancestudents'Englishproficiencyintheirfutureprofessionalfield.Inthisreport,wewillpresenttheresearchmethodology,resultsofneedsanalysis,andthedesigningofthecourse. Methodology TodesignacoursethatmeetsthespecificneedsofGTISstudents,theresearcherconductedaseriesofresearchactivities.Firstly,aquestionnairewasdistributedamongthetargetstudentstogatherinformationabouttheirEnglishlevels,theirfuturejobprospects,theircurrentEnglishcourse,andtheirattitudestowardsEnglishlearning.Secondly,interviewswereconductedamongtheGTISfacultymemberstounderstandtheirexpectationaboutwhatkindofEnglishcompetenceshouldbeemphasizedinthefuturetrainingofthestudents.Thirdly,acorpus-basedstudywasconductedtoidentifythemostfrequentlyusedEnglishwords,phrases,andpatternsinthetextileindustry. ResultsofNeedsAnalysis Accordingtotheresultsofthequestionnaire,themajorityofGTISstudentshaveamoderatelevelofEnglishproficiency,buttheylackconfidenceinusingEnglish.TheyexpressedastrongneedtoimprovetheirEnglishskillsinlistening,speaking,reading,andwriting.ThefutureemploymentprospecthasbeenidentifiedasamajordriverforEnglishlearning.Manystudentsplantoworkininternationalcompaniesorfactories,andtheyunderstandthatEnglishproficiencyiscriticalfortheirsuccess.ThecurrentEnglishcourseatGTISismainlyfocusedonthetrainingofEnglishgrammarandvocabulary,andthereisalackofpracticalapplicationsofEnglishinthetextileindustry. Theinterviewswiththefacultymemberssuggestthatthefuturetrainingofthestudentsshouldemphasizethecommunicationskillsinthetextileindustry,includingtheabilityt
