英语专业学生听力元认知知识、听力自我效能感与听力成绩的相关性研究的中期报告 Introduction ListeningisanimportantskillforEnglishmajors,andassuch,ithasgarneredalotofattention.Inrecentyears,therehasbeenagrowinginterestinexploringthefactorsthatinfluencelisteningperformanceandtheroleofmetacognitionintheprocess.ThisresearchaimstoinvestigatetherelationshipbetweenEFLstudents'metacognitiveknowledgeoflistening,theirself-efficacyinlistening,andtheirlisteningscores. LiteratureReview MetacognitiveKnowledgeofListening Metacognitiveknowledgereferstoknowledgeaboutone'sowncognitiveprocessesandstrategiesusedwhenperformingatask(Flavell,1976).Inthecontextoflistening,metacognitiveknowledgeinvolvesknowinghowtoadjustone'slisteningstrategiesbasedonthepurposeofthelisteningtask,thetopicofthelisteningmaterial,andone'sownstrengthsandweaknessesasalistener(Vandergrift&Goh,2012).Researchhasshownthatmetacognitiveknowledgeispositivelycorrelatedwithlisteningperformance,asitallowsthelistenertofocusonrelevantinformationandignoreirrelevantdetails(Vandergrift,2003). ListeningSelf-Efficacy Self-efficacyisdefinedasthebeliefinone'sabilitytoperformaspecifictasksuccessfully(Bandura,1977).Inthecontextoflistening,self-efficacyreferstothebeliefinone'sabilitytounderstandspokenlanguage.Researchhasshownthatself-efficacyisastrongpredictoroflisteningperformance(MacIntyre&Gardner,1994).Studentswhohavehighself-efficacyinlisteningaremorelikelytobemotivatedtoengageinlisteningtasksanduseeffectivelisteningstrategies(Lin,2015). ListeningPerformance Listeningperformancereferstotheabilitytounderstandspokenlanguage.Thisincludesbothcomprehensionofthemainideasanddetailsofthelisteningmaterial.Listeningperformanceisacomplexprocessthatinvolvesbottom-up(perceptual)andtop-down(languageandworldknowledge)processes(Goh,2000).Listeningperformanceisinfluencedbyvariousfactors,includingthedifficultyofthelisteningmaterials,thespeaker'saccentandspeechrate,thelistener'slanguageproficiency,andtheirlisteningstrategies.
