转喻视角下理雅各和辜鸿铭《论语》英译本的对比研究 Introduction TheAnalectsofConfuciusisaclassicChinesephilosophicalworkthatemphasizesmoralprinciplesandethicalbehavior.Ithasbeentranslatedintomanylanguages,includingEnglish,toreachawideraudience.AmongthevariousEnglishtranslationsofTheAnalects,twonotableversionsbyJamesLeggeandD.C.Lauareoftencomparedandcontrastedbyscholars.However,thispaperwilluseametaphoricalperspectivetoanalyzethetranslationsbyRichardR.KirwanandAnnpingChin,whorespectivelytranslatedtheworksoftwoChineseintellectuals,LiangShu-mingandGuHongming,intoEnglish.Byexaminingthesetranslationsthroughthelensofmetaphor,thispaperwillexplorehowtheculturalandlinguisticdifferencesaremanifestedandhowthetranslationsreflectthetranslators’personalandculturalbackgrounds.
