InChina,cultivatingphonologicalawarenessskillshasbecomeanimportantgoalforeducatorsandparentsinrecentyears.SeveralstudieshavedemonstratedthatChinese-speakingchildrenwhopossesshighlevelsofphonologicalawarenesshavebetterreadingskillscomparedtothosewhodonot.Giventheimportanceofphonologicalawarenessskillsinearlyreadingdevelopment,thefocusofthispaperistoexploretheimpactofEnglishphonologicalawarenesstrainingonChinese-speakingchildren'sphonologicalawarenessskillsandearlyreadingabilities. ImpactofEnglishphonologicalawarenesstrainingonChinese-speakingchildren'sphonologicalawarenessskills ResearchhasshownthatnativeEnglishspeakersdemonstratesuperiorphonologicalawarenessskillscomparedtospeakersofotherlanguages,includingChinese(Perfetti,1985;Gao,Li,&Shu,2013).ThisisduetothefactthattheEnglishlanguagehasamorecomplexsoundsystem,whichrequiresspeakerstobemoreattunedtophonologicaldistinctions. SeveralstudieshaveexaminedtheimpactofEnglishphonologicalawarenesstrainingonthephonologicalawarenessskillsofChinese-speakingchildren.WangandCheng(2008)conductedastudyinwhichtheyprovidedphonologicalawarenesstrainingtoChinese-speakingchildreninEnglish.TheresultsshowedthatthechildrenwhoreceivedthetrainingdemonstratedsignificantimprovementintheirEnglishphonologicalawarenessskillscomparedtoacontrolgroup.TheauthorsconcludedthatphonologicalawarenesstraininginEnglishcanbeaneffectivewaytoimprovethephonolo
