教师书面纠正性反馈对中国大学生英语写作的影响 Introduction AsEnglishisbecomingmoreandmoreimportantintheglobalcontext,writingproficiencyinEnglishhasbecomeabigchallengeforChinesestudents,particularlyforthosewhoarenon-Englishmajor.UniversityEnglishwritingcoursesnowplayacrucialroleinenhancingstudents’Englishwritingproficiency.Feedbackisacriticalcomponentintheteachingprocessofwritingskills.Writtencorrectivefeedback,whetheritisdirectorindirect,iscommonlyusedbymanyteacherstohelpstudentscorrecttheirerrorsandimprovetheirwritingskills.Thisessaywillexaminetheeffectsofteacher-writtencorrectivefeedbackonChineseuniversitystudents’Englishwritingability. TheImportanceofFeedbackinWriting Writingisacomplexskillthatrequiresmanystrategiestomaster.Students’writingqualitycanbeimprovedbycarefulinstructionandfeedback,whichhelpsthemdeveloptheirwritingskillsandknowledge.Feedbackisseenasoneofthebestwaystoimprovelearningoutcomes,particularlyinwritingskills(HattieandTimperley,2007).Feedbackcanbedefinedasinformationgiventostudentsregardingtheirperformancewiththeaimofenhancingtheirlearning(Shute,2008).Additionally,feedbackcantakeseveraldifferentforms,suchaswritten,verbal,ormultimedia. WrittenCorrectiveFeedback Writtencorrectivefeedbackisoneofthemostcommonformsoffeedbackusedbyteachersinwritingcourses.Therearetwomaintypesofwrittencorrectivefeedback:directandindirect.Directfeedbackiswhenateacherwritesthecorrectanswerintothestudent'stext.Indirectfeedback,ontheotherhand,involvesindicatingthatanerrorhasoccurredbutdoesnotprovidethecorrectanswer(BitchenerandKnoch,2008). CorrectiveFeedbackandSecondLanguageAcquisition Correctivefeedbackhelpsstudentstolearnfromtheirwritingerrors.AccordingtoEllis(2009),correctivefeedbackhelpssecondlanguagelearnersbycreating'noticing'opportunities.Inotherwords,whentheteacherprovidesfeedbackonastudent'swriting,ithelpsthestudentidentifytheerrorandcorrectit.Somestudiessuggestthatcorrectivefeedbackhasapositiveeffectonsecondlanguageacquisition(Sauro,Juffs&Wigglesworth,2008;Sheen,2007).Otherstudies,howev
