ResearchQuestions: 1.WhatarethemaintypesoftranslationerrorsinShanghaiMuseumtexts? 2.WhatarethefactorsthatcontributetothetranslationerrorsinShanghaiMuseumtexts? 3.HowcanthetranslationqualityofShanghaiMuseumtextsbeimprovedbasedonfunctionalequivalencetheory? LiteratureReview: Functionalequivalencetheory,proposedbyNidainthe1960s,emphasizestheimportanceoftheequivalenteffectofthesourcelanguagetextandthetargetlanguagetextonreadersorusersofthetext.Accordingtothistheory,translationshouldbebasedonthefunctionandpurposeofthesourcelanguagetext,andthetargetlanguagetextshouldhavethesamecommunicativeeffectasthesourcelanguagetext.Inthefieldofmuseumtranslation,scholarshavealsoappliedfunctionalequivalencetheorytoanalyzeandevaluatethetranslationqualityofmuseumtexts,andsuggestedthatmuseumtextsshouldbetranslatedwiththefocusonconveyingtheculturalcontextandtheintendedmeaningoftheexhibits. Methodology: Thisstudyadoptsaqualitativeresearchmethod,usingShanghaiMuseumtextsastheresearchobject.WewillcollectacorpusofShanghaiMuseumtextsinChineseandtheirEnglishtranslations,andconductacomparativeanalysisofthetranslationerrorsandtheircausesfromtheperspectiveoffunctionalequivalencetheory.Theresearchdatawillbeanalyzedandinterpretedusingcontentanalysisanddiscourseanalysiste
