Objective: ThisresearchaimstoexploretheEnglishtranslationstrategiesofforeignpublicitytextsfromtheperspectiveoffunctionallinguistics,focusingonthefunctionandpurposeofpublicitytextsincross-culturalcommunication. Tasks: 1.Analyzeandclassifythefunctionsandpurposesofforeignpublicitytexts,includingbutnotlimitedtopersuasion,explanation,promotion,andimage-building. 2.Reviewandsummarizetheprinciplesandmethodsoffunctionallinguistics,includinghallidayanlinguistics,systemicfunctionallinguistics,andAppraisalTheory. 3.Investigatethespecificlanguagefeaturesofforeignpublicitytexts,includingbutnotlimitedtolexicalandgrammaticalfeatures,thematicstructures,andrhetoricalstrategies. 4.IdentifythechallengesanddifficultiesofEnglishtranslationofforeignpublicitytextsfromtheperspectiveoffunctionallinguistics,includingthechallengesinconveyingtheintendedmeanings,maintainingthetext’spersuasiveandpromotionalfunctions,andadaptingtothewesternculturalbackground. 5.ProposeandevaluatetheEnglishtranslationstrategiesofforeignpublicitytextsfromtheperspectiveoffunctionallinguistics,includingbutnotlimitedtoselectingappropriatevocabulary,adjustingthematicstructures,usingrhetoricaldevices,andtakingculturalfactorsintoconsideration. Deliverables: 1.Aliteraturereviewaddressingtheresearchquestions,relatedresearchtheories,andmethods. 2.Ananalysisofthefunctionsandpurposesofforeignpublicitytexts,includingrepresentativeexamples. 3.Areviewoftheprinciplesandmethodsoffunctionallinguistics,withrelevantexamplesandappli
