Background: Inthetraditionalapproachtoteaching,theteacherwasconsideredtobetheonlysourceofknowledge,andstudentshadapassiveroletoplay.However,inrecenttimes,thefocushasshiftedtowardsamorestudent-centeredapproach,whereinteractivelearningandfeedbackaregivenmoreweightage.CorrectivefeedbackisoneofthetypesoffeedbackthatiscommonlyusedintheEnglishlanguageclassroomtoimprovestudents'linguisticaccuracy. Correctivefeedbackcanbedefinedasfeedbackthatprovidesthestudentwithinformationaboutthelinguisticerrorsthattheyhavemadeduringthecourseoftheirlanguagelearning.Itisaimedatdrawingthestudent'sattentiontothemistakeandguidingthemtowardsthecorrectform.Correctivefeedbackcanbecategorizedintothreetypes:explicit,implicit,andrecast.Explicitfeedbackisdirectandstraightforward,wheretheteacheridentifiesandcorrectstheerror.Implicitfeedbackismoresubtleandreliesonthestudenttorealizetheirmistake.Recastfeedbackisaformofimplicitfeedback,wheretheteacherrepeatstheerroneoussentencewiththecorrectform.
