Thisthesisaimstoexplorethecultural-specifictermsintheEnglishtranslationofTheContinuedClassicofTeaandhowtorendertheminEnglish.ThestudywillbeconductedthroughacomparisonbetweentheoriginalChinesetextandtheEnglishtranslationsbydifferenttranslators,highlightingthedifficultiesandchallengesintranslatingcultural-specificterms. 2.LiteratureReview Thereislimitedresearchonthetranslationofteaclassics,particularlyintermsofthecultural-specificterms.However,somestudieshavebeenconductedonthetranslationofChineseliterature,whichcanprovideinsightsintothetranslationofcultural-specificterms. Cai(2016)examinedhowtheChinesecultural-specifictermsinthenovelRedSorghumweretranslatedintoEnglishandanalyzedthestrategiesusedbythetranslatorstorenderthemeaningoftheseterms.Zhang(2017)investigatedthetranslationofclassicalChinesepoetryintoEnglishandfoundthatacombinationofdifferenttranslationstrategies,suchastransliteration,substitution,andexplanation,canbeusedtoachievethebesttranslationresults. 3.ResearchObjectives Theobjectivesofthisstudyare: -Toidentifycultural-specifictermsinTheContinuedClassicofTeaandanalyzetheirculturalsignificanceinChineseculture. -Toanalyzethetranslationstrategiesusedbydifferenttranslatorsinrenderingcultural-specifictermsinEnglish. -ToevaluatetheeffectivenessofdifferenttranslationstrategiesinconveyingtheculturalmeaningsoftheoriginaltextinEnglishtranslation. -Toprovidesuggestionsandguidelinesforthetranslationofcultural-specifictermsinteaclassics. 4.ResearchQuestions Theresearchquestionsofthisstudyare:
