KeyWords:translationcompetence,collegeEnglishteaching,survey,challenges,strategies Introduction: Translationplaysavitalroleinlanguagelearningandcross-culturalcommunication.ItisanessentialskillforEnglishlearners,especiallythosewhoarepursuingacareerinfieldssuchasinternationalbusiness,diplomacyandtranslationandinterpretation.Throughtranslationteaching,studentscannotonlyimprovetheirlanguageproficiency,butalsodeveloptheircriticalthinking,culturalawarenessandcommunicationskills.Therefore,collegeEnglishteachingshouldattachgreatimportancetotranslationteachingandprovideeffectivestrategiestoimprovestudents'translationcompetence. Methodology: AsurveyofcollegeEnglishtranslationteachingwasconductedtocollectdataonthecurrentsituationoftranslationteaching,challengesfacedbyteachersandstudentsandstrategiesusedtoimprovetranslationteaching.Theparticipantsinthesurveywere100collegeEnglishteachersand500collegeEnglishstudentsfromauniversityinChina.Aquestionnairewasdesignedtocollectbothqualitativeandquantitativedata. ResultsandDiscussions: Thesurveyrevealedthefollowingresults: 1.TranslationteachingisnotgivenenoughattentionincollegeEnglishteaching,andteachersandstudentslacksufficientknowledgeandskillsintranslation. 2.Thechallengesfacedbyteachersincludethelackofrelevanttextbooksandteachingmaterials,insufficientteachertrainingandevaluation,andthedifficultyofevaluatingstudents'translationcompetence. 3.Thechallengesfacedbystudentsincludethelacko
