大学英语听力现状及对策 Introduction Englishlisteningisanessentialskillforcollegestudentsasitisoneofthebasicrequirementsforhighereducationandemployment.However,ithasalwaysbeenachallengeformostChinesestudentstomasterthisskill.TheystrugglewithlisteningtonativeEnglishspeakersorunderstandinglectures.ThispaperaimstoanalyzethecurrentsituationofEnglishlisteningamongcollegestudentsandsuggestsomepracticalmeasurestoimproveit. CurrentSituationofEnglishListeningamongCollegeStudents CollegestudentsinChinahavetoundergoextensiveEnglishtraininginhighschool,butmostofthemstillfinditdifficulttounderstandspokenEnglish.Asurveyconductedin2020showedthatonly15%ofChinesecollegestudentscouldlistentoandunderstandEnglishconversationswithoutdifficulty.ThesituationworsensinacademiccontextswherethelecturesaregivenbyforeignprofessorsorthecoursetextbooksarewritteninEnglish.Moststudentsfeeloverwhelmedandlosemotivationtolearn. OneofthereasonsforthisdilemmaisthattheteachingofEnglishlisteninginmostschoolsisexcessivelyfocusedongrammarandvocabulary.Forexample,studentsaretaughttotranslatesentencesmechanicallyormemorizewordlists,buttheyarenottrainedtorecognizespokenEnglishpatternsorunderstandnaturaldiscourse.Consequently,itbecomeschallengingforthemtokeepupwiththepaceandstyleofauthenticEnglishcommunication. Anotherreasonisthatlisteningrequiresspecificskillsandstrategiesthatarerarelytaughtinclass.Tolisteneffectively,studentsneedtopredict,skim,scan,infer,andconnectinformationinalogicalway.Theyalsoneedtounderstandthepronunciation,intonation,andstressofEnglishwordsandsentences.Unfortunately,moststudentslacktheseskills,andtheydonothaveenoughopportunitiestopracticethem. SuggestedMeasurestoImproveEnglishListening ThereareseveralstrategiesthatcanbeadoptedtoimproveEnglishlisteningamongcollegestudents.Theseinclude: 1.Creatingaconducivelearningenvironment:CollegesshouldprovideanenvironmentthatpromotesEnglishlanguagelearning.Thiscanbeachievedbyorganizinglanguageclubs,culturalexchangeprograms,andextracurricularactivitiesthatrequire
