I.ImportanceofQuestioninginEnglishClassroom: 1.FacilitatingActiveLearning:Questionsencouragestudentstoactivelyparticipateinthelearningprocess.Theypromoteastudent-centeredapproach,wherestudentsareencouragedtothinkandexpresstheirthoughts,leadingtohigherengagementandretention. 2.PromotingCriticalThinking:Thought-provokingquestionsstimulatestudents'thinkingandenablethemtoanalyze,evaluate,andsynthesizeinformation,fosteringcriticalthinkingskills. 3.EnhancingLanguageAcquisition:Well-structuredquestionshelpstudentsmasterthelanguagebyprovidingopportunitiestouseandpracticethetargetlanguageinmeaningfulcontexts. II.PatternsofQuestioninginEnglishClassroom: 1.Teacher-CenteredApproach:Inthisapproach,questioningismainlyusedforcheckingstudents'comprehensionandprovidinginformation.Questionsareoftenclosed-endedandrequirerecalloffacts.However,thisapproachlimitsstudentengagementandhindersthedevelopmentofhigher-orderthinkingskills. 2.Student-CenteredApproach:Thisapproachfocusesonencouragingstudentstoactivelyparticipateinthelearningprocess.Questionsareopen-ended,thought-provoking,andpromotecriticalthinkingandproblem-solvingskills.
