Introduction SeriesHEVsarebecomingincreasinglypopularduetotheirhighefficiencyandlowemissions.ThecontrolofseriesHEViscomplexduetotheinvolvementofmultiplepowersourcesandcomponents.Arobustandefficientcommunicationnetworkisrequiredforthecontrolandcoordinationofdifferentsubsystems.CANisawidelyusedcommunicationprotocolintheautomotiveindustryduetoitshighreliability,lowcost,andeaseofimplementation.DSPtechnologyhasbeenappliedinvariousaspectsofautomotivecontrolsystemsduetoitshighprocessingpower,flexibility,andlowpowerconsumption. ThispaperpresentsthedesignofaCANnetworkforaseriesHEVbasedonDSPtechnology.Thesystemarchitecture,communicationprotocol,messagestructure,andsoftwaredesignarediscussed. Systemarchitecture ThesystemarchitectureoftheseriesHEVconsistsofabatterypack,anelectricmotor,agenerator,aninternalcombustionengine,andapowerelectronicsmodule.Thepowerelectronicsmoduleincludesaninverter,arectifier,andaDC-DCconverter.Thebatterypackprovidespowertotheelectricmotorandthegenerator,whichconvertsmechanicalenergyfromtheinternalcombustionenginetoelectricalenergyforthebatterypack.Theinvertercontrolstheelectricmotor,whiletherectifiercontrolsthegenerator.TheDC-DCconverterregulatesthevoltagelevelofthebatterypack. TheCANnetworkisusedforcommunicationandcoordinationbetweendifferentsubsystems.Thenetworkconsistsofnodes,eachofwhichhasaDSPcontrollerandaCANtransceiver.Thenodesareconnectedbyatwisted-paircable.
