CurrentStatusofEnglishReadingSkillsamongJuniorHighSchoolStudents: 1.LimitedVocabulary:Juniorhighschoolstudentsoftenpossessalimitedvocabulary,makingitchallengingforthemtocomprehendandprocesscomplextexts. 2.LackofEffectiveReadingStrategies:Manystudentslackthenecessaryreadingstrategiestoextractmeaningfromtexts.Theystrugglewithskimming,scanning,andmakinginferences,thushinderingtheirreadingcomprehension. 3.InsufficientExposuretoAuthenticMaterials:Studentsoftenrelyontextbooksandsimplifiedmaterials,resultinginalackofexposuretoauthenticEnglishtexts.Thishamperstheirabilitytotacklemorecomplexreadingmaterials. StrategiestoImproveEnglishReadingSkills: 1.VocabularyEnrichment:Implementingstrategiestoexpandstudents'vocabularyisvital.Teachersshouldprovideregularexposuretonewwordsthroughvocabulary-buildingexercises,readingmaterials,andinteractiveclassactivities.Encouragingstudentstousecontextcluesandonlineresourcestounderstandunfamiliarwordswillenhancetheirabilitytocomprehendtexts. 2.ReadingStrategiesInstruction:Teachersmustexplicitlyteachvariousreadingstrategiessuchasskimming,scanning,andmakinginferences.Encouragestudentstoannotatetexts,highlightkeypoints,andsummarizeinformationtodevelopcriticalreadingskills. 3.ExtensiveReading:Encouragestudentstoreadextensivelybeyondtextbooks,incorporatingavarietyofmaterials,includingnewspapers,magazines,websites,andnovels
