Introduction: AgriculturalproductionisoneofthemainsourcesofwaterpollutioninChina.Inparticular,theexcessiveuseofchlorinatedpesticideshascausedseriousenvironmentalpollutionandhealthproblems.Chlorinatedpesticidewastewatercontainshighlevelsoforganiccompoundsandchlorideions,whichposeasignificantchallengefortheaccuratemeasurementofChemicalOxygenDemand(COD).TheconventionalCODmeasurementmethodbasedondichromateoxidationcannotbeappliedtochlorinatedpesticidewastewaterduetotheinterferenceofchlorideions.Therefore,improvingtheCODmeasurementmethodforhigh-concentrationchlorinatedpesticidewastewaterisurgentlyneeded. MaterialsandMethods: Thechlorinatedpesticidewastewatersamplewascollectedfromalocalpesticideplant,whichcontainsvarioustypesofhigh-concentrationchlorinatedpesticidesandahighconcentrationofchlorideions.Thesamplewaspretreatedbyremovingsuspendedsolidsandfilteredwitha0.45μmmicroporousmembrane.TheCODwasmeasuredusingtheconventionaldichromateoxidationmethodwiththeadditionofsilversulfatetoreducechlorideioninterference.ThedigestiontemperatureandtimewereoptimizedtoimprovetheaccuracyandprecisionoftheCODmeasurements.TheCODvaluesobtainedbytheimprovedmethodwerecomparedwiththoseobtainedbytheconventionalmethodtoevaluatetheperformanceoftheimproved
