外商直接投资对江苏技术进步影响的实证分析 Abstract: Foreigndirectinvestment(FDI)hasbecomeasignificantfactorindrivingeconomicgrowthandtechnologicalprogressindifferentcountries,includingChina.ThepresentstudyaimstoinvestigatetheimpactofFDIontechnologicalprogressinJiangsuProvince,oneoftheleadingindustrialprovincesofChina.Usingeconometricanalysis,thisstudyfoundthatFDIhasapositiveandsignificanteffectontechnologicalprogressinJiangsuProvince.Thestudy'sfindingshaveimportantimplicationsforpolicymakersinJiangsuProvinceandotherindustrialprovincesinChina. Introduction: Foreigndirectinvestment(FDI)hasbecomeanessentialfactorindrivingeconomicgrowth,particularlyindevelopingcountries.FDInotonlybringscapitalbutalsobringstechnology,researchanddevelopment,andmanagerialexpertisetothehostcountry.ChinaisoneoftheleadingFDIrecipientsglobally,attractingthesecond-largestamountofFDIin2020.Thecountry'sFDIinflowsreached$144.4billion,upby6.2%fromthepreviousyear.JiangsuProvince,locatedintheeasternpartofChina,isoneoftheleadingindustrialprovincesinthecountry,anditsabilitytoattractFDIhasbeeninstrumentalindrivingtheprovince'seconomicgrowth.ThepresentstudyaimstoinvestigatetheimpactofFDIontechnologicalprogressinJiangsuProvince. LiteratureReview: StudiesontheimpactofFDIontechnologicalprogresshaveyieldedmixedresults.SomestudiessuggestthatFDIhasapositiveimpactontechnologicalprogress,whileothersarguethatFDIhasanegativeeffectontechnologicalprogress.Forexample,Borensztein,DeGregorio,andLee(1998)foundthatFDIhaspositiveimpactsonhumancapitalaccumulation,increasingtheproductivityofdomesticfirms,andfacilitatingthetransferoftechnologyinLatinAmericancountries.Similarly,ZhangandLi(2016)discoveredthatFDIinChinahadapositiveimpactonthetechnologicalprogressofdomesticfirms.Incontrast,XuandLu(2017)arguedthatFDIhasanegativeeffectondomesticfirms'innovativecapability,basedonempiricalevidencefromChina.
