Introduction: Alcoholwastewaterisgeneratedfromvariousindustriessuchasbrewery,distillery,andpharmaceuticalindustries.Itischaracterizedbyhighconcentrationsofalcoholcompounds,whichposesignificantenvironmentalandhealthhazardsifdischargedwithoutpropertreatment.TheUASBtreatmentisaneffectiveandeconomicalmethodforremovingorganicpollutants,includingalcoholcompounds,fromwastewater.Inadditiontoitsefficiencyandcost-effectiveness,theUASBprocessisknownforitsrobustnessandabilitytowithstandfluctuationsinwastewatercompositionandhydraulicshockloads.ThispaperaimstoevaluatetheimpactresistancecharacteristicofUASBtreatmentonalcoholwastewaterandanalyzethecompositionandcharacteristicsoftheparticlesludgegeneratedduringtheprocess. Methodology: Thestudyinvolvesconductinglaboratory-scaleUASBtreatmentexperimentsusingasyntheticalcoholwastewaterwithknownconcentrationsofalcoholcompounds.TheUASBreactorisoperatedatvarioushydraulicloadingratesandorganicloadingratestoevaluatetheperformanceoftheprocessunderdifferentoperatingconditions.Samplingisconductedatregularintervalstoanalyzetheremovalefficiencyofalcoholcompoundsanddeterminethecompositionoftheparticlesludgeusingadvancedanalyticaltechniquessuchasgaschromatography-massspectrometry(GC-MS)andscanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM).
