【Abstract】
Inthisstudy,themicrostructureandmechanicalpropertiesofAZ31Bmagnesiumalloysheetwereinvestigatedbyhottensiletest.TheresultsshowedthatthegrainsizeoftheAZ31Bmagnesiumalloywassignificantlyrefinedafterhotdeformation,andthestrengthandductilityofthealloywereimprovedaccordingly.ThroughtheanalysisofthemicrostructureandmechanicalpropertiesoftheAZ31Bmagnesiumalloysheet,therelationshipbetweenthegrainsizeandthemechanicalpropertiesofthealloywasexplored.ThestudyprovidesatheoreticalbasisforthefurtherdevelopmentandapplicationofAZ31Bmagnesiumalloysheet.
【Introduction】
AZ31Bmagnesiumalloyisoneofthemostwidelyusedmagnesiumalloysduetoitshighstrength,goodductility,lowdensityandexcellentcorrosionresistance.However,themechanicalpropertiesofAZ31Bmagnesiumalloyarestronglyinfluencedbyitsmicrostructure,especiallygrainsize.InordertoimprovethemechanicalpropertiesofAZ31Bmagnesiumalloy,itisnecessarytostudytherelationshipbetweenmicrostructureandmechanicalproperties.Hotdeformationisaneffectivemethodtorefinegrainsize.Inthisstudy,themicrostructureandmechanicalpropertiesofAZ31Bmagnesiumalloysheetwereinvestigatedbyhottensiletest.
【Experimentalprocedure】
AZ31Bmagnesiumalloysheetwithathicknessof1mmwasusedinthisstudy.ThechemicalcompositionofthealloyisshowninTable1.ThehottensiletestwascarriedoutinaGleeble-3500thermalsimulationmachine,withastrainrateof0.1s-1,andthetemperaturewasrangingfrom350°Cto500°C.Thespecimensweretesteduntilfractureoccurred.
Afterthehottensiletest,themicrostructuresofthesampleswereanalyzedusingascanningelectronmicroscope(SEM).Todeterminethegrainsize,theSEMimageswereprocessedbyimageanalysissoftware.
【Resultsanddiscussion】
ThemicrostructureoftheAZ31BmagnesiumalloysheetbeforeandafterhotdeformationisshowninFigure1.ItcanbeseenthatthegrainsizeoftheAZ31Bmagnesiumalloyissignificantlyrefinedafterhotdeformation.Theaveragegrainsizeofthesampleafterhotdeformationat500°Cwasabout5μm,whiletheaveragegrainsizeofthesamplebeforehotdeformationwasabout30μm.
