Introduction Distributedfiberopticsensing(DFOS)isanadvancedtechnologythatenablesthemeasurementofdistributedparameterssuchastemperature,strain,pressure,andchemicalsensingalongtheopticalfiber.Theseparameterscanbemeasuredbyanalyzingthebackscatteredorreflectedlightsignalsfromtheopticalfiber.DFOSprovidesnumerousadvantagesoverconventionalmethodsofsensing,includinghighspatialresolution,real-timemonitoring,andlongsensingdistances.AmongthevarioustypesofDFOSsensors,DistributedIntrinsicFabry-PerotSensor(DIFPS)isgainingsignificantattentionasapromisingtechnologyforvarioussensingapplications. WorkingPrincipleofDIFPS TheDIFPSconsistsofanextrinsicFabry-Perotinterferometer(EFPI)andafiberBragggrating(FBG)sensor.TheEFPIconsistsoftwohighlyreflectivemirrorsthatareseparatedbyacavity.Thedistancebetweenthemirrorschangeswhenachangeinthephysicalparameteroccurs.TheFBGsensorisusedtodeterminetheexactlocationofthechange.WhenlightistransmittedthroughtheEFPI,itformsaninterferencepatternthatisdetectedbyanalyzingtheintensityofthereflectedlight.Theinterferencepatternchangeswhenthephysicalparameterchanges,andthechangeisdetectedbyanalyzingthespectralcontentofthereflectedlightsignal.
