Introduction: Austeniticstainlesssteelisknownforitsoutstandingcorrosionresistanceandmechanicalproperties.However,ithasrelativelylowhardnessandwearresistance.Toovercometheselimitations,carburizingtreatmenthasbeenappliedtomodifythesurfacelayerofausteniticstainlesssteel.Thecarburizedlayercansignificantlyenhancethehardnessandwearresistance,whilemaintainingitsexcellentcorrosionresistance.Thisstudyfocusesonunderstandingthemicrostructureandexaminingthecorrosionresistancestrengtheningperformanceofcarburizedausteniticstainlesssteel. MicrostructureAnalysis: Themicrostructureofthecarburizedlayerinausteniticstainlesssteeliscrucialforitsmechanicalandcorrosionresistanceproperties.Variouscharacterizationtechniques,suchasopticalmicroscopy,scanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM),energy-dispersiveX-rayspectroscopy(EDS),andX-raydiffraction(XRD),canbeemployedtoinvestigatethemicrostructuralchangesthatoccurduringcarburizingtreatment.Thesetechniqueswillhelpidentifythedifferentphasespresent,carbonconcentrationprofiles,andthedepthofthecarburizedlayer.
