Firstofall,inordertopromotecross-culturalcommunicationinuniversityEnglishteaching,teachersneedtopayattentiontothedifferenceinculturalbackgroundsbetweenstudents.Teachersshoulddesignteachingmaterialsthattakeintoconsiderationthedifferencesinculturalbackgroundsofstudents,soastoreducepotentialmisunderstandingsandenhancetheirabilitytounderstandandcommunicatewithothersfromdifferentcultures. Secondly,teachersshouldadoptavarietyofteachingmethodstoachievethegoalofcross-culturalcommunication.Notonlyshouldteachersusetraditionalteachingmethodssuchaslectures,buttheyshouldalsouseinteractiveteachingmethodssuchasgroupdiscussionsanddebates.Throughtheseinteractiveactivities,studentscaninteractwitheachotherandlearntorespectandappreciatedifferentculturalbackgrounds. Thirdly,teachersshouldalsointroducestudentstotheconceptofcross-culturalcommunicationanditsimportanceininternationalcommunication.Bydoingso,studentscanunderstandthesignificanceofcross-culturalcommunicationanddevelopamorepositiveattitudetowardsit. Inaddition,teacherscanorganizeculturalexchangeactivities,suchasinvitinginternationalstudentstotheclassroomtosharetheirowncultureorarrangingfieldtripstoculturalandhistoricalsites.Throughtheseactivities,studentscanlearnfirst-handaboutdifferentculturesandenhancetheircross-culturalcommunicationabilities.
