ChallengesinEnglishTeaching: 1.LimitedexposuretoEnglish:ManystudentsinvocationalandtechnicalcollegeshavehadlimitedexposuretotheEnglishlanguagebeforeenteringcollege.Therefore,thereisaneedtobuildastrongfoundationinEnglishgrammar,vocabulary,andpronunciation. 2.Lackofmotivation:SomestudentsmaylackmotivationtolearnEnglishastheyperceivetheirfuturecareerstobelessreliantonlanguageskills.Thus,itiscrucialtomaketheEnglishcurriculummoreengagingandrelevanttotheirvocationalandtechnicalinterests. 3.Insufficientlanguagepractice:TraditionalEnglishteachingmethodsoftenfocusonmemorizinggrammarrulesandvocabularywithoutprovidingampleopportunitiesforpracticallanguagepractice.Thisinhibitsstudentsfromdevelopingfluencyandcommunicativeskills. Student-CenteredApproach: 1.Establishingrelevance:ItisessentialtodesignEnglishcoursesthatfocusonvocationalandtechnicalcontexts.Incorporatingindustry-specificvocabulary,tasks,andprojectswillhelpstudentsseethepracticalvalueoflearningEnglishintheirfuturecareers. 2.Tailoringmaterials:Providingstudentswithauthenticmaterials,suchasarticles,videos,andinterviewsrelatedtotheirfieldofstudy,canstimulatetheirinterestandfacilitatelanguageacquisition. 3.Interactiveclassroomactivities:Engagingstudentsininteractiveactivities,suchasrole-playing,groupdiscussions,andproblem-solvingtasks,promoteslanguagepracticeandenhancescommunicationskills.Theseactivitiesallowstudentstoapplywhattheyhavelearnedinreal-lifescenarios.
