MITSUBISHIINTEGRATEDCIRCUITPACKAGES ICPACKAGEELECTRICALCHARACTERISTIC 6.2ICPACKAGEELECTRICALCHARACTERISTICS Tables1,2and3showelectricalcharacteristicsofpackagesofvarioustypes.TheyarecalledLCRvalues,whichincludeLs,Lm,Co,Cm, andRs.AsFig.4shows,LsandLmrepresents,respectively,self-inductanceandmutualinductance;CoandCm,self-capacitanceand mutualcapacitance;andRs,resistance.Thesevaluesaresimulationvaluesobtainedbyelectromagneticfieldanalysisat100MHz.They wereconfirmedbymeasurement.Eachvalueinthetablesis,incaseofaQFPforexample,thesumofthevalueatthebondingwire,thatat theleadinthepackage(innerlead),andthatattheleadoutsidethepackage(outerlead).Thetotalvalueisgivenasthevalueforthe package. Inthetables,valuesatshortleads(atthepackagecenter)andthoseatlongleads(atthepackagecorners)areshownasminimumvalues andmaximumvalues,respectively.TheygiveexamplesofLCRvaluesforacertainchipsize. Electricalcharacteristicsareinfluencedbythematerialandfrequencyaswell,asdescribedintheprevioussection.Resistance(Rs)and42 alloyleadself-inductance(Ls)arestronglyinfluencedbythefrequency.Inthetables,valuesareestimatedwithaclockpulseof100MHz. Intermsofgeometricshape,packageLCRvaluesareconsiderablyinfluencedbyleadlength.Therefore,incaseofQFPforexample,the LCRvaluesaredifferentbetweentheleadsatthepackagecornerandthoseatthecenter,theleadsatthecorner,whicharelonger,have largerLCRvalues.ForLOC-configuredpackages,leadlengthisnotstronglyinfluencedbythechipsize.Therefore,LRvaluesdonot changemuchaccordingtothechipsize.
