Keywords:sol-gelmethod,silver-silicacatalyst,optimization,hydrogenation,dimethyloxalate,ethylglycolate 1.Introduction Catalytichydrogenationprocessesarewidelyusedintheproductionofvariouschemicals.Theconversionofdimethyloxalate,abyproductofthesynthesisofdimethylsulfate,toethylglycolateisanessentialreactioninthechemicalindustry.Thetraditionalcatalystsusedforthisreaction,suchascopper-basedcatalysts,sufferfromlowselectivityandlimitedstability.Therefore,thedevelopmentofefficientcatalystswithhighselectivityandstabilityisofgreatimportance. 2.PreparationandCharacterizationofAg-SiO2Catalyst Thesol-gelmethodisaversatileandpopulartechniqueforthesynthesisofheterogeneouscatalysts,allowingprecisecontrolofthecatalyst'sstructureandproperties.Inthisstudy,theAg-SiO2catalystwaspreparedbythesol-gelmethodusingtetraethylorthosilicateandsilvernitrateasprecursors.Theeffectofvarioussynthesisparameters,includingthemolarratioofprecursors,pH,andcalcinationtemperature,onthecatalyst'sperformancewassystematicallyinvestigated.ThecatalystwascharacterizedusingX-raydiffraction(XRD),scanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM),andBrunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)analysistodetermineitscrystallinestructure,morphology,andsurfacearea. 3.OptimizationofAg-SiO2Catalyst TheoptimizationoftheAg-SiO2catalystinvolvedadjustingthesynthesisparameterstoimproveitscatalyticactivity,selectivity,andstability.Theeffectsofthemolarratioofprecursors,pH,andcalcinationtemperatureonthecatalyst'sperfor
