Introduction: Thegastrointestinal(GI)tractislinedwithasinglelayerofintestinalepithelialcellsthatformacriticalbarrierbetweentheexternalenvironmentandtheunderlyingtissues.Autophagyisknowntobeessentialforthemaintenanceofintestinalepithelialcellfunction,includingdefenseagainstpathogens,regulationofinflammatoryresponses,andmodulationofbarrierintegrity.Theadventofnanotechnologyhasenabledtheexploitationofvariousnanomaterialsforpotentialtherapeuticapplications,includingGO.However,theimpactofGOonautophagyinintestinalepithelialcellsremainspoorlyunderstood. Methods: ToexploretheeffectsofGOonautophagyinintestinalepithelialcells,acomprehensivereviewofexistingliteraturewasconducted.PubMed,WebofScience,andGoogleScholardatabasesweresearchedusingrelevantkeywords.StudiesinvestigatingtheimpactofGOonautophagyinintestinalepithelialcellswereincludedintheanalysis.Mechanisticinsightsweresummarizedbasedonthereportedfindings. Results: StudieshaveindicatedthatGOexposurecanmodulateautophagyinintestinalepithelialcells.GO-inducedautophagyactivationhasbeenobservedinvariouscelltypes,includingCaco-2cells,awidelyusedintestinalepithelialcellline.GOexposurehasbeenshowntoupregulateautophagy-relatedgenesandproteinexpression,aswellasincreasetheformationofautophagosomes.Moreover,GOtreatmenthasbeenreportedtopromoteautophagicflux,leadingtoincreasedautophagicdegradation.Thesefindin
