Introduction: Probioticsarelivemicroorganismsthatconferhealthbenefitstothehostwhenadministeredinadequatequantities.Amongprobiotics,LABareacommonchoiceduetotheirinherentsafety,beneficialeffectsinmaintainingguthealth,andpotentialforantagonisticeffectsagainstpathogenicbacteria.Salmonellaisaleadingcauseoffoodborneinfections,anditsadhesiontointestinalepithelialcellsisacrucialstepinthepathogenesisofdisease.Therefore,understandinghowselectedLABstrainsinterferewithSalmonellaadhesiontoCaco-2cellscancontributetothedevelopmentofeffectivestrategiesforthepreventionandtreatmentofSalmonellainfections. Methods: LABstrainswereisolatedfromvarioussources,suchasfermentedfoodsandthegastrointestinaltractofhealthyindividuals.Theisolatedstrainswerethensubjectedtophenotypiccharacterization,includingacidandbilesalttolerance,antimicrobialactivityagainstvariouspathogens,andadhesionabilitytoCaco-2cells.Basedonthesecharacteristics,themostpromisingLABstrainswereselectedforfurtherinvestigation.
