英语专业研究生教学中的小组探究法调查研究——以华中师范大学为例 Introduction Asaneffectiveteachingmethod,thegroupinquirymethodhasbeenwidelyusedinEnglishteachinginrecentyears.Thismethodcannotonlyimprovestudents'abilitytocooperate,butalsostimulatetheircuriosityandenhancetheircreativity.Inthisstudy,weaimtoinvestigatetheapplicationofthegroupinquirymethodintheteachingofEnglishmajorpostgraduatesatHuazhongNormalUniversity,andevaluateitseffectiveness. Literaturereview Thegroupinquirymethodisastudent-centeredteachingmethodthatemphasizescollaborativelearning.Inthismethod,studentsaredividedintosmallgroupsandarerequiredtodiscussandexploreaspecifictopicbyconductingextensiveresearch.Duringtheprocess,theyexchangeinformation,opinionsandideas,anddebatewitheachotheruntiltheyreachaconsensus.Thismethodnotonlyfostersstudents'learningautonomy,butalsohelpscultivatetheircriticalthinkingandproblem-solvingskills. InEnglishteaching,thegroupinquirymethodhasbeenwidelyusedinvariousaspects,includingliteratureanalysis,oralpresentation,andessaywriting.Forexample,MayerandFidel(2004)foundthatthegroupinquirymethodcouldsignificantlyimprovestudents'understandingofliteraturebypromotingtheirinterpretationskillsandpromotingtheirreflectionontheirunderstandingofthetext.Furthermore,WuandChen(2012)foundthatthegroupinquirymethodcouldhelpstudentsimprovetheircriticalthinkingandwritingskillsinEnglishessaywriting.Inaddition,thegroupinquirymethodhasbeenshowntobeaneffectivewaytoimprovestudents'oralcommunicationskills(LiandLi,2013). Methodology Inthisstudy,weconductedaquestionnairesurveytoinvestigatetheapplicationofthegroupinquirymethodinHuazhongNormalUniversity'spostgraduateEnglishmajorclasses.Werandomlyselected100postgraduatestudentsfromtheEnglishDepartmentoftheuniversityandaskedthemtofillinthequestionnaire.Thequestionnaireconsistedoftwoparts:thefirstpartaskedaboutthestudents'attitudestowardsthegroupinquirymethod,andthesecondpartevaluatedtheeffectivenessofthemethodintermsofimprovingtheirlearningoutcomes.
